As a fan of both DC Comics and the superhero movie genre, I was eagerly anticipating the release of the new Flash movie, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! In fact, I think it might just be one of the best superhero movies to come out in recent years, and a huge part of that is thanks to the incredible performance by Michael Keaton in his role as Batman.
Let’s start with the movie itself. The Flash is a thrilling, action-packed adventure that follows the titular hero, played brilliantly by Ezra Miller, as he races through time and space to save the multiverse from certain destruction.
Along the way, he encounters a variety of other heroes and villains from across the DC Comics universe, each one more exciting and intriguing than the last. The special effects in this movie are truly breathtaking, and the action sequences are some of the most thrilling I’ve ever seen on the big screen.
I can’t resist mentioning Ben Affleck’s reprisal of his role as Batman in this film and of course he does a splendid job.
But what really sets The Flash apart is its heart. Despite all the incredible action and super heroics, at its core this is a movie about the power of friendship and the importance of working together to overcome even the most daunting challenges.
And then there’s Michael Keaton. To say that he steals the show in this movie would be an understatement. From the moment he appears on screen in his iconic Batman costume, he commands your attention and never lets go.
Keaton’s performance is both nuanced and powerful, perfectly capturing the brooding intensity of the Dark Knight while also bringing a depth and vulnerability to the character that we haven’t seen in previous incarnations.
And without giving too much away, I have to say that the way the movie ties Keaton’s Batman into the larger story is absolutely brilliant. It’s a testament to both Keaton’s talent as an actor and the skill of the movie’s writers and directors that they were able to take a beloved character like Batman and make him feel fresh and exciting once again.
The Flash is a must-see movie for any fan of superhero movies, DC Comics, or just great filmmaking in general. With its thrilling action, heartwarming story, and standout performances from Ezra Miller and Michael Keaton, it’s a movie that will leave you on the edge of your seat and then tugging at your heartstrings. I can’t recommend it highly enough!
The Flash is scheduled to drop in theaters on June 16. The first summer of blockbusters since the shutdown is apparently on the way.
