HIGHSPEED Diva Rebekah Shibao
Rebekah Shibao is one powerful woman; which is what makes her a most perfect captain of the Divas team.
Rebekah had mentioned that she’d wanted to shoot at an auto repair shop and of course DJ went on the hunt for one.
Fortunately there was a friend who happened to have access to one in Glendale and she set up the opportunity to shoot there. The shoot was challenging to accomplish since it’s an actual working shop.
But of course challenges are what we are all about; and the shoot got done and some pretty amazing images were created.
Of course we sat down with this model actress and all around powerhouse to ask her some questions. Here are her answers.

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
*At the top of my head, vivacious, strong and insightful.
What is the best piece of advice you have received?
*The best advice was given by my mom. I was working retail at the time and I remember coming home, venting to her about all the rude customers I had to deal with. She told me, “Whenever you come across rude people, think to yourself that they are just coming from a funeral.” It is simple but it truly resonated with me because it continues to keep me mindful about what someone might be going through personally and to approach them with compassion, patience and without judgment.
What’s your favorite place to eat?
*Marshall’s in St.Kitts, West Indies. I have been going to this restaurant since I was a kid. I have many memories here, and it is inspiring to see its’ growth overtime.
Name one actor/actress you would love to get naughty with?
*Tom Hardy

What is your favorite daily wear attire?
*Yoga pants. Simultaneously, they make feel sexy, comfy and agile.
You’ve been nominated in the best actor/actress category for the Oscars. Anything you want to say to your competitors?
*Hmmm…. Stay tuned.
What are you wearing?
*Vanilla oil, purchased at whole foods.
On what do you spend the most: clothes, accessories, perfumes, underwear, or anything else?
*Lately, I have been focusing on the Home Front. I bought my first home a couple years ago and the projects seem to be endless.
What do you do on the rare occasion you’re not working?
* When I am not working or stuck in traffic, adventure is what I crave. Any chance I get to travel I take advantage. I live an active lifestyle so one can find me at a yoga studio, a salsa class, running with my fur baby, hiking, or at the beach. Also, I LOVE being entertained as much as I like to entertain. Attending shows, stand up comedy, concerts, and film screenings is truly important to me because it keeps me feeling inspired. Being a home body watching “Game of Thrones” and a “Friends” marathon with family is pretty amazing and inspiring too!

Where do you think you will be after 25 years?
*25 years is so close yet so far away. I think I’ll be happy, living my dream and building a legacy for my family!
What are some of your causes?
*I have a couple non-profit organizations I would like to start in the future. After being involved in a couple projects that celebrate women, I would love to help provide housing and guidance counseling for women who are battered or trapped in sex trafficking. Another is to launch an organization to provide employment to the adolescence who contain poor and/or criminal records. I have a passion to help those who are misguided or have experienced a rough start in life.
What is your dream project?
*I have not thought about my dream project however, ever since I had a photoshoot utilizing swords, landing a warrior princess/queen role in a Marvel film would be pretty badass.
What do you consider a wild night?
* I recently watched the film “Game Night” with Rachel McAdams and Jason Bateman. Living a night like that would be crazy!!!!!!!! Something more tame would be a swingers night.

When do you feel your sexiest?
*Nothing makes me feel better about myself than accomplishing a long term goal.
What things in life are still a mystery to you?
*Wow….that is deep. I guess our overall existence…???
If you could ask a sage any question that you want to know the answer to, what would you ask?
*Recently, I lost a couple family members so I would ask about them. Are they at peace? What important message would they want to tell me?
What things in your life would you give up in an instant if it got you to an even better place than you are now?
*Gluten lol
What should every woman try at least once in her life?
*One thing I am proud to check off my bucket list that I think every woman should try at least once in her life is to kiss an alligator on the nose. Not many people can say they’ve done it and it was definitely the most unbelievable experiences.
What do you think guys look sexiest in?
*People may call me old fashioned but a man’s mannerisms are what catches my attention. A gentleman essence who possesses protective traits I find to be extremely sexy. When a man takes initiative to walk on the outside of the sidewalk to keep me out of harms way or opening my car door, or pulling out my chair at the dinner table are simple actions that never go unnoticed. As far as a quick eye candy appearance, it’s nice seeing men in suits and I have always had a thing for backwards hats.
What part of a man’s body would you like to see first?
*I have a weakness for abs. Bonus points for the super defined hipbones.
Do you have a secret fetish? What is it?
*If I revealed my secret fetish, it wouldn’t be a secret anymore…(wink wink)
This is your second shoot for HIGHSPEED Magazine. Do you think this one went better than your first one?
*Yes

It seems that you; Deaqon James and Gabriella Simmons make a dynamic team that knocks it out of the park each time you guys get together. What do you think makes that match up dynamite? (If you think it is)
*Well I believe we work great together for a couple reasons. I think all three of us arrive on the set prepared with our own objectives with room to welcome spontaneity. In fact, we tend to disagree a lot, but I think that’s what makes our work 3 dimensional. I usually find that if a creative team doesn’t have different matters of opinion, the execution of the work turns out mundane. This December issue was the fourth shoot we collaborated on and I think overtime people establish each others style, their strengths and weaknesses. Speaking for myself I know I have become more comfortable, therefore “letting go” has become easier for me.
The concept for your shoot was of your own making. What made you think of that?
*When I look at many auto lifestyle magazines I see the same theme: A gorgeous model standing next to a car in a feminine outfit. I wanted to try something nontraditional by adding both feminine and masculine traits. Naturally, a woman mechanic came to mind. Usually at a shoot, the model brings their own undergarments and I purposely chose to bring sports bras and took a couple of my husband’s Calvin Klein underwear. I wanted the shoot to be as authentic as possible.
What do you think about your layout?
*What I think is irrelevant. Many times when I see a layout or the photos an editor chooses to publish, the critique inside my head always thinks, “Out of all the photos I’ve seen from the roster, why did they choose that one?” What is comforting about the thought of that is what I think is not my best work as a model, someone else does think it is beautiful work.
