Many of our long time fans may remember when Deaqon James shot High Speed Diva Dylan Johnson with the Batmobile from the 1960’s television series for our June 2010 issue.
Well it seems that there was a lawsuit brewing against the man who builds the replicas of the iconic vehicle citing that the car in of itself was a character on the show and therefore should be afforded copyright protection.
In our opinion while we are sensitive to copyrights, we think D.C. comics have kind of been assholes in this regard but again, perhaps some kind of licensing agreement can eventually be made between them and the shop which builds the cars.
The day I got to photograph this car I will admit I fully geeked out as it was like watching my childhood favorite show come to life.
Along with the other incredible cars which were present. It was apparent by her opinion that Judge Sandra Segal Ikuta is a fan of the show as she quoted a line from an episode of the Batman television show. Ikuta said.
“As Batman so sagely told Robin, ‘In our well-ordered society, protection of private property is essential,’” they wrote, quoting from a March, 23, 1966 “Batman” episode titled “The Penguin Goes Straight.”
